Too-Many-Tackles-To-Do-Tuesday!

February 27, 2007

My head is stuffed with things I have to do before our trip to Cuba at the weekend.

Firstly, I have to do…

1. A  tick-list of things to pack.

2. Instructions and emergency telephone numbers for the childminder.

3. Shopping for food.

4. Iron all the clothes and uniforms needed for next week. P.E. kits/Irish Dancing outfits and gymnastics kit. Lay out on our bed.

5. Find another taxi to bring the children to and from their activities as ‘Taxi Mum’ won’t be around

6. Menu Planner!

7. Inform the school secretary of who will be collecting the children and give her number in case of emergency.

To be continued!…..

A clean slate

As this is my first week of exercise and dieting,  I know what my next habit will be. But firstly, I have to admit that the garden habit is just a no-no! The weather has not allowed me to do any  gardening for the last couple of weeks. Ideally, I should crack on with it when the children aren’t around. Although it is tidy i.e. litter-free (that’s working) until the weather improves, I’m taking it off the list.

My next Smart Habit is to ensure I have all the ingredients for my diet in the cupboard and fridge for the week ahead. The last couple of meals had an ingredient missing because Tesco didn’t have them. It’s a Tesco Diet!!!??

So, here are my Smart Habits so far….

*Tidying girls’ bedrooms  ~Habit

*Uniforms ready on Saturday  ~ Happened last week but working on it

*My back passage! ~ Habit. You may want to check this out…

Coffee time…

February 23, 2007

I haven’t done much blogging this week because of my new diet and exercise regime! I’m actually enjoying it so far. The girl’s check that I’m doing the exercises as it shows on the website and I’m making all my own meals from scratch. The alcohol allowance of 7 units per week is killing me!

The food isn’t bad, although I could quite easily throw in a pinch of salt to each dish! I’ve bought slimline milk which really doesn’t taste as bad as I thought in coffee and my sugar has gone from 1/2 teaspoon to 1/3. I’m also doing a 20 minute brisk walk each day, usually in the evening when the children are getting ready for bed and don’t know I’ve gone ( when Hubs is downstairs, of course!) Last night I ‘escaped’ at 10.15pm and nobody missed me!

While I was hopping today, I found this on TopChamp’s  blog. It’s just so cute. Have a look.

I also had this link saved for weeks waiting to post. I love cooking utensils. I love using handy little gadgets like my garlic crusher which makes using garlic so easy. Fancy pampering yourself in the kitchen?

It’s Mid-Term break here in Ireland. Finding things to occupy the children and keeping them amused isn’t always easy. But, I find the best incentive to a trip to the local swimming pool, is to ask them to tidy their bedrooms. You may already know the problems I’ve had with their rooms, well it really has got easier. I may just give their rooms a quick tidy while they have breakfast, but that’s rare nowadays.

                          Have a great weekend bloggers!

A new me

February 19, 2007

Expect some changes around here. I’ve just bought some Summer clothes for our trip to Cuba in a couple of weeks. I tried on the swimming costumes tonight and nearly died! I look dreadful. Hubby even said I look chubby. I know exactly why I have put on so much weight around my thighs, bottom and waist (no it’s not just from having four children!) It’s sitting here blogging and blog-hopping! I’m addicted.

 So here’s the plan…

Tonight I joined up to Tescodiets.ie  It cost me a small fortune but I intend to stick to the plan, get fit and eat well. My eating habits are okay anyway, I think, I don’t eat rubbish, but after McDonalds tomorrow I will improve my diet. I also need to exercise. The cold weather keeps me indoors, apart from Wednesday mornings when I run the local Toddler  Group. Other than that, I don’t normally leave the house until after lunch when I collect No.3 from school..

When the weather becomes more reliable, I’ll walk to the school and back (an hour round trip) with the ‘Adopted One’ and No.4. I know I won’t lose much in the next two weeks, the ultimate plan is to lose a stone by the end of May when we go to Disneyland in Florida.

So I won’t be posting every day, but I will be commenting on your blogs!

Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt ~ Antique

February 17, 2007

I was looking on the internet to find the value of my Royal Doulton ‘The Old Balloon Seller’. I found it here

I’d never sell the ornament because it’s very sentimental. It belonged to my Mum who passed away a few years ago, but it was interesting to see the value. In my heart, it’s priceless!

Smart Habits Saturday

February 17, 2007

It’s my  5th Smart Habits Saturday today. I hope I’m forming habits at this stage. After I check the girls bedrooms this morning, I will finish the front garden.   The weather is much better now the frost has gone. I should be able to do some heavy digging!  I hope to keep it neat and tidy for the duration of Spring and Summer at least. Every Saturday, the garden will be tittivated!

~Another job for me to do today, which has been niggling at me all week is to go around the house with a bucket of soapy water and a cloth. I have to wipe away all those chocolatey handprints left over from Valentines Day. My little boy enjoyed half a box of chocolates and left the evidence everywhere! I’m convinced he wants to be an interior designer!

~An extra job here. I find myself thinking “Must get the girls’ uniforms ready for school” several times a day over the weekend. Today I will wash, dry and iron them so they are out of the way and Sunday is a day of rest!

To make you smile…

February 15, 2007

There is not a woman alive today who won’t crack up over this!

I was due for an appointment with the gynaecologist later in the
week, but early on Monday morning, I received a call from his office to
tell me that my appointment had been rescheduled for that morning at 9:30AM.
I had just packed everyone off to work and school, and it was
already around 8:45 AM.

Since the trip to his office would take about 35 minutes, I didn’t have any time to spare. As most women do, I like to take a little extra effort over hygiene when making such visits, but this time I wasn’t going to be able to make the full effort. So, I rushed upstairs, threw off my pyjamas, wet the washcloth that was setting next to the sink, and gave myself a quick wash in “that area” to make sure I was at least presentable. I then threw the washcloth in the hamper, donned some clothes, hopped in the car and raced to my appointment.
I was in the waiting room for only a few minutes when I was called in.
Knowing the procedure, as I’m sure you do, I hopped up on to the table,
looked over at the other side of the room and pretended that I was in
Paris or some other place a million miles away.
I was a little surprised when the doctor said, “My, we’ve made an extra effort this morning, haven’t we?” I didn’t respond.
After the examination, I heaved a sigh of relief and went home. The rest of the day went as normal.
After school when my six year old daughter was playing, she called out from
the bathroom, “Mommy, where’s my washcloth?” I told her to get another one from the cupboard.
She replied, “No, I need the one that was here by the sink, it had all my
glitter and sparkles saved inside it.”

Keep smiling.
