Bits and pieces

June 30, 2007

I had to cancel the bouncy castle last night, the weather forecast was very bad. Mr.Bouncy Castle wanted 100 euro up front whatever the weather. So, I spent an hour and a half looking for a children’s entertainer at short notice. Not easy. In the end, I’ve decided not to get one. We’re going to pack three hours of fun on our own! At no great expense.

Bossy (11 yr old) is face-painting, or rather a Princess make-up sort of thing. Pencil (9 yr old) is doing her arts and crafts thing. I’ll organise the party games and each time the sun attempts to come out, we’ll go into the back garden for a disco-alfresco!

~It didn’t rain after all!~

Quick Check for Alzheimer’s

The following simple test was developed as a mental age assessment by
Harvard University – School of Psychiatry.
Take your time…see if you can read each line aloud without a mistake.
The average person over the age of 40 cannot do it!

1. This is this cat.
2. This is is cat.
3. This is how cat.
4. This is to cat.
5. This is keep cat.
6. This is an cat.
7. This is old cat.
8. This is fart cat.
9. This is busy cat.
10. This is for cat.
11. This is forty cat.
12. This is seconds cat.

Now go back and read the third word in each line from the top down and
betcha’ you cannot resist passing it on.

Did I say that? It’s the Summer holidays as from 12pm today. And Belle is 6! Happy Birthday Chicken! (another name I call her) So, I’m frantically trying to make a list of things I need to do today. She’s asked for  Bratz cake, balloons and a bouncy castle amongst many other things. I have the balloons and bouncy castle. She used the photo below for her invitations which she made herself. It’s her favourite pic of herself and Spud, the day we came home from hospital.

Keeping the children busy this Summer and 18,000 hits

June 28, 2007

I’ve been dreading awaiting the school Summer holidays for a while now, and thinking how I can occupy the children from this Friday until they go back to school in September. Here’s something I saw over at Stay at Home Suburbia. Isn’t it great? I tend to keep dates in my diary, but with this idea, I’ll be able to put it up on the kitchen wall for all to see.

Here’s a list of what we plan to do so far…

And whatever else is free suits me!

In July, we are off to the North-West of England to meet up with my brothers and sisters, in-laws, nephews (the eldest being newly-wed) nieces, their partners and a new girlfriend of my brother. I can’t wait! Must book that today or my eldest Sis (Mother Hen) will be on my case…

Back here for more TT’s

Thanks to everyone who has visited my blog and hope y’all come back!

Tackle it Tuesday

Tackle It Tuesday

 VISIT HERE FOR MORE TACKLES

Because the extractor fan above the oven hasn’t been working for months, the inside of my oven is full of grease. In fact, it’s THICK with grease. This weeks tackle is the hardest one yet. I knew it would be a toughie, that’s why I’ve been putting it off for so long….

I asked Hubby to bring home some industrial strength cleaner and a pair of heavy-duty gloves. We got to work. I had to open the windows and doors, this stuff is powerful.

AFTER~ Safe to use!

Well, we have another birthday here this week. Belle will be 6 on Friday. The party is on Saturday, so I’ll be busy baking and getting on top of the housework. I’m having the carpets cleaned that morning, the plumber is calling on Wednesday to take a look at the shower to see where the problem is and the plasterer will be here on Friday. I’ve ordered a new extractor for the oven which my brother-in-law will fit. So things are moving. The children also break up for the Summer holidays (Ugh! Help!) So busy busy week for me.

Off to do some ironing. See you tomorrow for a tough Tackle it Tuesday…

Happy Birthday Irish!

June 24, 2007

He’s 42 today!  I was hoping we could maybe go out for the day, not often he has a Sunday off. But, he opted for a football match with his brothers instead.

Anyway, shortly after he left the house, Spud said he wanted the toilet, Gasp!! Toilet-training hasn’t been working out recently, so it was ‘on hold’ till the Summer holidays. So, without any fuss, we strolled into the bathroom where he promptly did a pee (seated) on the loo!

DADDY WILL BE SO THRILLED!

He asked for a green cake made of cheese, so that’s just what we made, a green cheesecake!

Sponsored Walk

June 23, 2007

StopwatchRemember the sponsored walk I said I would be doing whilst on holiday in Disneyland? Well, I did it….in 90 degrees in 1 hr 40 minutes. It nearly killed me, but it was all for a good cause.

A photographer took a few pics, I have yet to download those, still finding a way to do it. This is where you may be able to help me. I have one of these, a Disneyphotopass. Now, when we used the pass, we thought that all the photos would be available online at no cost to us. Well I’m not sure if that’s the case, because it appears that there is a cost and to retrieve all the photos we had taken in the parks will cost a small fortune. We did take a few pics ourselves, but there are four photos taken of me which I would love to put here on this page. Me doing my walk for charity! Any ideas?

BTW I raised over 100 euro for the Punchestown Kidney Research Fund

On a lighter note

June 23, 2007

I apparently reduced my sister to tears for most of the day, due to yesterdays post! So, today I’m going to lighten up a little and put a smile on her face, and yours too…

Look what I found on Youtube.

Beautiful

There was a lawyer and he was just waking up from anesthesia after surgery, and his wife was sitting by his side. His eyes fluttered open and he said, “You’re beautiful!” and then he fell asleep again.

His wife had never heard him say that so she stayed by his side. A couple minutes later his eyes fluttered open and he said “You’re cute!”

Well, the wife was dissapointed because instead of “beautiful” it was “cute.”

She said “What happened to ‘beautiful’?”

His reply was “The drugs are wearing off!”

And finally, Sis, does this mean anything to you?

My Mum

June 9th 1929~June 22nd 2002

I love you because you understand, dear
Every single thing I try to do
You’re always there to lend a helping hand, dear
I love you most of all because you’re you.

No matter what the world may say about me
I know your love will always see me through
I love you for the way you never doubt me
But most of all I love you ’cause you’re you.

I love you because my heart is lighter
Every time I’m walking by your side
I love you because the future’s brighter
The door to happiness, you open wide.

No matter what the world may say about me
I know your love will always see me through
I love you for a hundred thousand reasons
But most of all I love you ’cause you’re you…
