Three men died on Christmas Eve and were met by Saint Peter at the pearly gates.
“In honor of this holy season,” Saint Peter said, “You must each possess something that symbolizes Christmas to get into heaven.”
The first man fumbled through his pockets and pulled out a lighter. He flicked it on. “It represents a candle,” he said. “You may pass through the pearly gates,” Saint Peter said.
The second man reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of keys. He shook them and said, “They’re bells.” Saint Peter said, “You may pass through the pearly gates.”
The third man started searching desperately through his pockets and finally pulled out a pair of women’s glasses.
St. Peter looked at the man with a raised eyebrow and asked, “And just what do those symbolize?”
The man replied, “They’re Carol’s.”
The tree looks great! Hubs came home, saw the tree from the car and smiled from ear to ear. It was all worthwhile.
I was lucky enough to get 3 new sets of lights for 30 euro. I took some pics (Santa brought me a digital camera) but the flash was too bright. I’ll try again tonight on this page..
The camera has so many settings, bear with me!
I heard the front door close at 6.30 this morning. It was my husband, the strange thing is, he always gives me a kiss before he goes to work, so I found it odd that a) I didn’t get the kiss and b) He didn’t tell me he was leaving for work so early. So, until my alarm clock went off at 7.50am I was unsettled. Anyway, I got the children ready for school, wished No.1 a “Happy Birthday” and who should arrive home meanwhile? Daddy with all the Christmas food shopping and lots of extra goodies!
I’m getting the last few things in the morning. My friend is minding no.4 and her own little boy, my ‘Adopted’ one, and I’m going to be on the loose. A mad dash to get those things we usually forget. Plus, it’s no.1’s birthday on Friday, so I need to get her an outfit for her Big Day. She has opted for a shopping trip followed by McDonalds and two friends to sleepover. It’s all go!
We took our little boy to see Santa in Arnotts, Dublin. The best Santa I’ve ever seen (apart from Miracle on 34th Street, the original) He was very blase about the whole thing until Santa said “Bob the Builder” He was alert then!
Number two has decided she doesn’t want to go to the indoor play area 30 miles away for her birthday today…phew! Six giggly girls and a 45 minute drive is not my idea of fun, even if it’s theirs. So instead, they are going on a shopping trip to a nearby shopping centre. It opened a few months ago and has their favourite eating place ‘Chocolate Soup!’ Isn’t that a great name for a cafe?
p.s. I can bet she’ll spend her birthday money here !

Oops, trying to fix this…..
I’m contemplating making my own cake this year. I don’t know whether I’ve left it too late, though. Anyone have a recipe?
