Another day out

April 27, 2007

The sun is shining here in Kildare, and I just have to get out with the children very soon. If the eldest jumps on the computer, we could be staying in! A record-breaking hot Summer has been reported and I’m hoping this is the start of it. Having good weather and having children are a great combination!

Another reason we need to get out, is that my wonderful cleaner will be here soon, and I wouldn’t want us to be in the way. She comes once a fortnight now, to do the jobs I hate. And anyway, I’d rather spend time in the sun with my children than clean toilets and wash floors! A quick tidy up and off we’ll go…

As I was writing this, Pencil and Spud have just gone outside with their breakfast, putting our new patio furniture to good use already.

 And it tastes better, too!

Mums only!

December 9, 2006

I’ve organised a Christmas Party for the Mums at the Toddler group I run. So, tonight, while you all wish I was blogging with you, I shall be eating and drinking with 15 other women on the loose!

I’ll be thinking about you too!

Niall Quinn…. a gentleman

October 1, 2006

quinnie.jpg We were out for a meal last night, and who should walk in, but Niall Quinn. It’s hard to concentrate on your grub, when an international sporting hero/legend is two tables away, facing you. My B-I-L asked me to take a pic of the two of them. Well, you should see it, it looks like a bloody ventriloquist act. Niall is 6’4″ and my B-I-L is about 4’6″ After a bit of a chat, we left him to it and fell into a taxi.

Anyway, for those of you who are unaware of the Great Quinny, click here niall.jpg

The first time my husband took me out for dinner, was at the Pizza Hut in Crawley. Sounds cheap, I know, but it was one of the best meals I ever had! Remember the pizza they did in the late 80’s (May 1988 to be precise!) called the ‘Priazzo Roma?’ Well, I haven’t seen it on the menu since. Sometimes, the best meal could be very basic, the worst meal could cost you an arm and a leg….

So I looked on the internet and couldn’t find anything even similar, but this link made my tummy rumble and its only 9am!

Had another look and found this!

I always try to give the children something a little more interesting for breakfast than a bowl of cereal! They love homemade pancakes (weekends only!) crumpets and cooked breakfasts. Hubs only ever has breakfast on the very rare occasion or when we are on holiday.

We visited relatives in New York in 1992 and were very impressed with the selection of breakfast items available in cafes. We had waffles with maple syrup and a neverending cup of coffee most mornings while we were there. I can’t remember the names of any of the places we dined in, so decided to look on the Internet where I came across this video. We are in the catering business (I still manage functions as and when I’m needed) and I just love to watch a chef at work.

Hello. My name is Miss Lionheart and I am a computer resfiles_output.gif

Phew! Now, there, I said it. Denial was the problem, as always. Now I can move on with my life…….

I’m spending too much time here on my *** and need to go off and do the things a good wife and 38 year old mother of 4 should be doing:wink:

Last night after being on this demon for 2 and a half hours, No. 2 said, “Mummy! You never spend time with us any more!” Well, I felt ashamed. I finished chatting to a friend on MSN and came right off. The children will always come first.

So, today I have a plan. I will do all the housework that needs to be done and take them out for a walk. It’s a lovely day here, the sun is shining and its lovely and warm. So why would I want to be here anyway (bear with me, I’m trying to convince myself there are better things than blogging!)

I’ll put together a picnic and we will do the Riverside Walk. I’ll leave the car at home rather than drive there and conveniently leave it somewhere close for a quick escape back to Blogland.

Breaking news……..Sophie Ellis Bextor found headbutted to death in the apartment of a French footballer.Apparently it was murder on Zidanes floor……..

Then when we come home, I’ll prepare dinner on the patio and we’ll boogie on the decking! They’ll love that…

South African Ambassador 004

He wasn’t there! But it all went well, anyway. 60 people showed, 38 were the ballet cast and the rest were a mixture of South African Embassy staff and the usual hangers-on! My husband, his brother and the Ambassadors personal chef, put together a beautiful buffet with a South African theme. (The dancers are from Capetown)

The wine, diet coke and Ballygowan flowed. The Ambassadors daughter sang, speeches were made and then they all got back on the bus and off to see ‘Riverdance’ at the Gaeity!

I left at 7.30 and took a detour past Bono’s house. Its a 6-bedroomed castle which looks as though its built into the cliff-face. It was previously owned by Maeve Binchy. Vico road is full of great houses owned by the rich and famous. One day I will squat live there…

An Tearmann is close to where I live. It is a meeting place! Everyone knows everyone there. When I first moved here, I went in for a bite to eat and felt so welcome. I have visited the cafe every Wednesday for lunch after the Mums and Toddlers group which I help to run.
