My Book Club…

February 7, 2008

…was a flop.

I’d had the Residents meeting just before and asked a few of them to stay on. No-one stayed, but a friend arrived (heavily pregnant and nothing to talk about but  false alarms) I gave her the chosen book for this month and she tossed it into her bag without so much as a quick flick-through. I’m hoping to get a few others to join or it’s just me n’ er and I’m not sure I can cope with going through her pre-natal notes for the next few weeks!

Here’s my current booklist. It doesn’t include the Book Club book which incidentally, is

After trying fresh meatballs on our recent trip to Las Vegas, how could I not come home and make my own?

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup breadcrumbs
    • 1 cup parmesan cheese
    • 1lb lean minced beef
    • mixed herbs
    • garlic
    • 1/2 cup water
    • salt and pepper to taste

    For the sauce

    • 2 tins chopped tomatoes
    • small tin tomato paste
    • garlic
    • 1/2 chopped onion
    • 1 tsp oregano
    • salt and pepper to taste

    Directions

    1. Mix ingredients together, slowly adding the water
    2. Mould the mixture into meatballs
    3. Brown the balls on each side and simmer in the sauce for 20 minutes
    4. Add to pasta (I used fresh penne)
    5. Top with parmesan

Keeping the children busy this Summer and 18,000 hits

    June 28, 2007

I’ve been dreading awaiting the school Summer holidays for a while now, and thinking how I can occupy the children from this Friday until they go back to school in September. Here’s something I saw over at Stay at Home Suburbia. Isn’t it great? I tend to keep dates in my diary, but with this idea, I’ll be able to put it up on the kitchen wall for all to see.

Here’s a list of what we plan to do so far…

And whatever else is free suits me!

In July, we are off to the North-West of England to meet up with my brothers and sisters, in-laws, nephews (the eldest being newly-wed) nieces, their partners and a new girlfriend of my brother. I can’t wait! Must book that today or my eldest Sis (Mother Hen) will be on my case…

Thanks to everyone who has visited my blog and hope y’all come back!
