Read on…

November 18, 2006

I’m trying to get through a couple of books before the ‘date stamp’ of December 8th!  Our library has about 3,ooo books to choose from, but this one just begged me to be brought home. The cover appealed to me from a box of books which had just been delivered! I’m the first to read it and the book is pristine!

Cobwebs and Cream Teas

This is one of my favourite books, I’ve read it many times. Its a true story by the wife of a National Trust House ‘Houseman’. Chris ran a house in Norfolk called Felbrigg Hall.  Mary was gradually roped in to being a general dogsbody! Basically, its a summary of the day-to -day running of the house. The reason I’m so fond of the book, is that it reminds me very much of a place up in the Scottish Highlands which we managed for a season, before the House was sold. Certain parts of the book are very similar and made me laugh. I’m reading it again!
