Day one

January 1, 2008
I hope the New Year is going well for you, mine can only get better!
I’m determined to keep on top of the housework this year (again) and as I sit here, Chef has gone off to his brothers for the afternoon with the four children, leaving me to get things done. I’ve a mountain of washing to get through, floors to wash and the oven to clean before I can put the beef in for dinner, and it’s after 4pm!

Happy Birthday Spud!

More WW’s here

Monday……

July 2, 2007

The party was a success, even though I cancelled the Bouncy Castle, the girls had fun and the weather was lovely. She was singing this last night. She’d been called up to sing it on the school radio on the morning of her birthday. I thought I’d find it on Youtube.

Spending her birthday money in Ladybird…

Wow! Is this the real Belle?

We were at Hubby’s ‘End of Derby Dinner’ last night. A celebration of all the hard work the chefs and other staff put into the Derby. All paid for by the company he works for. Which is nice!

So England has gone smoke-free. Earthpal mentions it here. I’m delighted. It’s worked well over here for the past couple of years. It makes a big difference to us when we eat out, although Hubby is a smoker, it hasn’t bothered him to have to go outside a pub or restaurant for a smoke. Some pubs have a covered smoking area outside, anyway.

I have a great big pile of books given to me by a neighbour and I’m now attempting to read ‘P.S. I love You’ by Cecelia Ahern. I’m on chapter three already which is amazing, because usually, after a few pages, if I don’t like what I see, I start another! It’s a lovely book so far and easy to read.

I need to re-organised my cupboards this week and I have to use up some things before I go shopping again. I only use two cupboards for food, and right now they are full of items such as rice, noodles and pasta.

 So, here’s the plan~

  • Monday~Pasta Carbonara
  • Tuesday~Vegetable stir-fry
  • Wednesday~Mild chicken curry
  • Thursday~Pasta Quills with tomato and roasted vegetable sauce
  • Friday ~Mc.Donalds
  • Saturday~Not sure!
  • Sunday~Sunday roast

We also have an egg mountain, so it’s egg for breakfast every morning till they’re gone. Look at other MPM’s here

I’m cooling down on the blogging for a while this week. I need to catch up on a few things at home, so I’ll be here a bit less. See you Wednesday!

Please call back……..

The Curragh Races and a dog!

April 16, 2007

The Curragh Races was great fun for the children, as always. They spent an hour in the playground, had their faces painted, even Spud had shamrock painted on his cheek. They went on the bouncy castles and had cornettos. We also had lunch in the Champagne Bar! Posh, eh! I had a Caesar Salad and the others had fries, Seafood Chowder and a Smoked Chicken and bacon Caesar Salad. I had a glass of white wine and lemonade (driving) and the girls had diet coke, Spud had his beloved milk.

We got great close ups of the horses at the Starting Line. The jockey here, winking at me is J.A.Heffernan. He rode Vox Populi in the last race…

And even met two of the jockeys!

On the way home, we picked up a stray and named him ‘Tiny’

The poor little thing was so grubby. His bottom fur was mangled with poo, his eyes were all gungy and he was so hungry. I have vowed I will keep him till his owner shows or till we find a new home for him. He’s a cute little lamb dog and I’d love to have him, but it’s not the perfect situation with 4/5 children and holiday care to think about…

Taking it easy

Enough of all that organising! Having a rest today, I’ll  be here for a while surfing and blog-hopping until the children ask , “What are we doing today?” (Must put parcel tape over their mouths!)

I would have loved to have gone away this weekend, but hubby only has Sunday off. Who would have fed him? A few days in Donegal would have gone down well. My sisters invited me over to England for a couple of nights next week, but as some of you may know, I mind a little boy full-time, and couldn’t go.

I pulled out of the organising challenge over at Organising Junkie for a couple of reasons. The first, the weather is just too good to be inside de-cluttering, if I’m outside in the garden or playing/walking with the children I feel better and happier and the house is staying tidy if we aren’t in it. Secondly, I should do that stuff when the children are in school and I can get stuck in without any interference!

Reading Scorched Earth last night brought back memories of my Mum at Easter time. We were always given the biggest and best eggs at Easter, the kind you only dream of! Until we got older where she would just give us the money in a card. I’m not a big chocolate person, anyway although wine and chocolate do go very well together!

smart-703858.jpgA pet hate of mine is to see childrens bikes, scooters and prams littering the estate. So, before we go off each day, even if it’s only to the shop or for a little walk, we’ll bring ours into the garden. I mean, I would hate for anyone to accuse us of being messy!

Enjoy your day!

Bear with me!

January 2, 2007

I’ll be trying a few themes and layouts over the next few weeks, until I find one I want to stick with for a while. So until that time, please be patient with me!

My plan to do an hour of ironing yesterday, turned out to be two hours! I’ll still do more today though. It’s a vicious circle in this house. Anyway, the pile is lower and my energy levels are higher, so no excuse there.

We’re off to see ‘Mother Goose’  tomorrow night with Hubs’ Aunt and Uncle and a whole bunch of relatives. It’s Auntie M’s annual treat for her extended  family. (Not short of a bob or two) So it should be fun, especially for my youngest girl who is 5 and never been to a panto before!

I’ve added a gardening blog onto my links. This is because one of my New Years Resolutions is to sort mine out!

Clearing up…

December 31, 2006

I came down this morning to a kitchen of horror! I usually clear up before bedtime to make sure this doesn’t happen. So, that’s what I’m doing at the moment. Rummaging through cans, bottles and half eaten vol-au-vents.

The party went well and the food was good. The trifle went down a treat, although I don’t like it particularly, the guests who hadn’t had trifle for years did!

I’ll tell you more later, must crack on…

We’re cookin’ on gas!

We’re here in the kitchen cooking some of the party food for tomorrow night’s party. No.1 is cleaning mushrooms for the vol-au-vent filling and No.2 is looking for an apron then she will be chopping mushrooms. The vol-au-vents are rising nicely and my 2yr old son is pre-occupied with a life-size Bob the Builder (don’t ask)

The girls are loving this! It’s not often I let them cook the hot stuff, I tend to be on edge if there’s any form of heat involved.

The sherry trifle is cooling down….
